Feature Friday: Garage to Guesthouse

Are you running out of space in your home?
Ever thought of doing a garage conversion?

I came across this incredible transformation of a Sunshine Coast garage today and thought I would share it with you for today's Feature Friday post.

A growing Sunshine Coast family were wanting a place that family and friends could stay, complete with its own bathroom and kitchenette. A place guests can have their own space and come and go as they wish.

They converted their garage to the guest house and have no regrets - it looks incredible!

The guest house is made up of mismatched chairs, tassie oak timber stools, Kmart crockery for the kitchenette, locally sourced art and a wonderful warm homely feel.

It's a combination of Shabby Chic and French meets Hamptons.

The open white roof trusses have become the feature and highlight the space, especially matched with the painted hardwood floors. It has created a light and spacious feel. All the timber trusses are original, the old brown wood was painted and extra timber supports were added. The painted timber floors are original too - I love that they have incorporated these features to create a fresh new look.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS TRANSFORMATION?
Have you converted your garage to a guest house or studio space?

 inspiration for your guest house

If you love the idea of a guest house at your home, I thought I would share some inspiration with you today.

Have you ever thought of a free standing cottage in your backyard like this?

Or adding a loft to your garage?

Sliding barn doors for privacy in a guest quarters attached to your existing home perhaps?

A cute garden studio, complete with a deck to catch the sun?

Or maybe even a pool house? I think it would be hard to keep guests away from a pool house, you would nearly have to start taking bookings! :P

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
WHICH LOOK DO YOU LOVE?
Personally, I would love a garden studio for my home office, so I could look out over the pool and greenery and feel that I leave the house to go to 'work'. I think I need some sliding barn doors too - maybe I could have a guest house combined with a home office?

Yay it's Friday, hope you have something fabulous planned for the weekend? We have a few home maintenace jobs to tick off the to do list - a new range hood in the kitchen and some work on our camper trailer. We are planning a little getaway in a few weeks, so we need to do some minor adjustments, as last time we took it away we drove home unknowingly with the toolbox fastened with only one screw on the front of the trailer. Not sure where the others disappeared to! Have fun what ever you do x
