Would you live life on the road?
My Mum is currently doing the retired grey nomad thing. She left the Gold Coast in February, heading south to explore the coastline of NSW, VIC and SA, before heading up into the dessert as the weather turned cooler. She has been living life in a motorhome and plans to do so for nine months of this year. She will be home for Christmas and no doubt will have stories to tell!
It is something she has always wanted to do, explore this great big beautiful land of ours. I am so glad she is doing it and living that dream. One thing that she found hard though was downsizing, to fit life inside four walls and learn to live compactly! I thought it might be a little fun to do something differently today for Feature Friday and show you how people live life on the road, instead of traditional brick and mortar homes.
Lets take a peek at some motorhomes that people call home...

This motorhome had a massive DIY makeover - making it super child friendly and kitted with full bathroom, laundry, kitchen and even a herb garden. It is amazing what you can fit inside four small walls isn't it?!

This couple sold their home and belongings and revamped a motorhome to their style, before taking off with their 15 year old cat for a life on the road.

My favourite though, would have to be this Airstream. Lovingly restored, this nomadic boho couple have it styled to perfection and make life on the road look a breeze. Dreamy isn't it?

What do you think?
Could you live life on the road?
Or have you ever packed up and taken an extended trip in one of these?
Looks like fun doesn't it. I know I couldn't do it permanently, but for a few months it would be a dream! What fun, sitting by your firepit and watching the shooting stars.
Happy Friday peeps, have a great weekend!:)

What a great blog Ashlee, thank you for showcasing a different style of living. It's amazing what you can live without when you down size from a house to a caravan/motor home. I Found it very liberating to cull unnecessary stuff from my life & home when we did it. My motto was & still is "stuff is just stuff".
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Jules! You are so right, stuff is just stuff! The moments. memories and people you share life with are so much more important x
DeleteThanks Ashlee,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful caravan inspo, might have to use this to show the hubby. This is caravanning to me - glamping . Lol. Read read xx

I am a glamper! Growing up we did the whole tent thing, now I have a camper trailer and love sleeping up off the ground! Glamping is so my thing xx
DeleteI could but would rather a sailing yacht any day and sail from port to port :)
ReplyDeleteThat is the answer I would expect from you - you have coastal water running through your blood :P That sounds like an incredible way to live, I wouldn't mind trying that!Do you miss your days on the water? x
DeleteOh wow, these homes are gorgeous! I'm a fan of the silver bullet and the outdoor lights. I totally think I could handle glamping if I had one of those babies for an extended time.
ReplyDeleteThe silver bullet is so iconic isn't it! We have nothing like it in OZ! I certainly wouldn't mind one of these x
DeleteI would love to do this, but I'm not really liking the caravans I see around these days. Like most things, I think my taste is expensive and custom :)
ReplyDeleteOh my pickled liver I love these hard.... every single one of them!!!! xx
