6 Of My Favourite Pins Right Now

Pinterest - my dear friend, how did life exist before your creation?
My sister initially told me about Pinterest when I was midst wedding planning. I jumped on board right away and was blown away by what I saw. You could honestly get lost in the world of Pinterest, I certainly enjoy checking in every few days and seeing what's new in my feed and being inspired.

I came across these 6 pins this week and thought they were worth sharing, they are some of my favourite pins that I am loving at the moment.

I shared this image over on Instagram and had a massive reaction. Obviously you all love white, weatherboard and greenery like me? Heaven!
You can find the pin here.

Home is when I am with you

What I love most about my home is who I share it with.

You may have gathered, if you follow along with my weekly Feature Friday posts  and blog antics that I love homes and I especially love to see inside and see how people live, their furnishings and style.

House, home, unit, apartment, cottage, penthouse, shed, caravan...the place we reside can be called alot of things. If I was to ask you what does home mean to you, I know its likely that your answer wont be the same as the person next to you. This week the word home has fascinated me, then  I came across these words on We Made This Home and they were so fitting to how I feel about this word Home.

"Home means many thing to different people...
For me it is not just the old bricks and mortar that stand firmly on it's foundations, it is a place of comfort and a sense of belonging. Our home represents a journey and it tells a story - our story. Memories have been made here, both of happy times and of testing times, treasures found along the way fill the rooms, each piece destined to be apart of this story. Our home is an organic ever changing space that grows with us, week by week, month by month, It is the place where our creativity has the freedom to be expressed in ways that reflects just how we are feeing at any given moment, furniture is shuffled and our things are arranged and rearranged almost constantly."

Reading these words, it felt like I had put pen to paper and written them. It is exactly how I feel about a home.

The words to this song are some of my favourite. So fitting aren't they?
Home is whenever I am with you.

So click the song link, let the words play and have a think...
As I want to know

WHAT DOES THE WORD HOME MEAN TO YOU?
Does your home grow with you, as the seasons change, do you shuffle furniture and does your home tell your story?

Until next time, lover of all things home

TV's - on show or conceal?

Haven't TVs come a long way?

We were looking back through old family videos over the weekend and were chuckling at the 1970's TV on wheels with the rabbit ear aerial and how far they have come since then. The 1990's was all about having the biggest screen you could get and ensuring it still fitted into your TV cabinet with the swinging doors so you could tuck it away out of sight. Remember how big and heavy they were?!

Then came the flat screen TVs and the rest is history! One thing hasn't changed though and that is the big debate on whether the TV is a focal piece of a living space or if it is more of an addition - one that can be removed easily.

I follow Josh & Jen of Bicker Deisgn on social media and came across this fabulous living space they recently completed on Reno Rumble. I thought it was a brilliant idea, having a sliding door to conceal the TV.

Now you see the TV...

...Now you don't!

Let's talk watermelons

{source}
If you loved the pineapple fever that was pineapple ornaments, home decor, vases, clocks, linen, cushions...the list goes on, then I think you will too enjoy the watermelon look.

Perfect for a little girls bedroom or nursery, its fun, colourful and gives a great endless summer vibe!

Why not add a bit of fun and interest with a watermelon cushion or wall stickers, then team it with pinks and greens for a statement effect. It sure is going to put a smile on a little ones face! Imagine waking to this each day...

Colour Trend: Blush

source
Blush.
It seems to be the trend colour at the moment. Dulux named 'Copper Blush' as their colour of the year for 2015 and I can see why - it teams perfectly with copper and white homewares which are so on trend at the moment.

A warm colour, it works well on its own or teamed with block colours or patterns. The end result is always soft, gives a warm glow, pretty and very chic especially when mixed with marble or copper tones.

Crazy for copper

Smooth, shimmering and undeniably appealing. I am a little crazy for Copper right now! Copper pendant lights, candle holders, vases, lights + even cutlery! What do you think? Are you loving this look too? There is just something about the warm and soft rose coloured tones that I adore.

Here is some beautiful crazy for copper homewares inspiration.

Fifty Shades of Grey

So I bit the bullet and went to see Fifty Shades of Grey last week. I wasn't sure what to expect. I had read the first book and then I admit lost interest...a CEO, private planes, a penthouse apartment? It was all a bit much and dramatic. But I thought I would go along to the movie and see what all the rage was about. I must admit the raunchier scenes were alot more tasteful than I thought they would be. Have you seen the movie, what did you think?

So this along with my new charcoal lounge has got me in a 50 shades of grey frenzy. I am loving shades of grey and a toned down neutral look at the moment for my home. The words 'Scandi Beach House' keep coming to mind and I am quite taken by the idea of creating something with texture, interest and still some warmth for my living room. Here is what I have been pinning to get inspiration for the look I am wanting to achieve.

Darren & Dee Make The Block Elimination

Are you tuning in to The Block Triple Threat? It's a bit hard not too with round after round of eliminations and twists isn't it!

Darren and Dee as the All Stars made it through the elimination round last night, beating All Stars Bec & George and Matt & Kim by one point. The rooms they created in one week were amazing. All three couples created amazing spaces that were all worthy of a win. Bec & George created an elegant finish with stunning herringbone parquetry flooring and Matt & Kim with their panelled wall details. Both rooms by the couples were finished to such a high standard creating win worthy rooms, but on the night the judges deemed Darren & Dee's room the ultimate retreat with Whitaker describing the finished result as “seamless, calm and relaxing”. “This is the room where I want to unpack my bag,” Whitaker said. I think it's Dee's bedding choice that draws you into the room, it does look so inviting and in a small space there is not much else in the bedroom to draw you in.

Trust me, you too will want to spend hours lost in this Norwegian beauty...

A Tropical Home for a Holiday Vibe

Holiday Vibes. Let's get Tropical!

Inspiring work spaces

Well, this kicks off the first post for 2015 and for me! Yesterday I was back to work and suffering some serious post holiday blues. Naturally, what do you do when procrastinating over work? Look at Instagram! I couldn't help but be inspired over on my Instagram feed, seeing posts of new stationary, diaries and work spaces from those I follow. Nothing beats a new year, a fresh start and a clean and organised working environment. I can't think straight then there is mess and clutter around me! This then led me to have a quick look at Polyvore (if you haven't had a squiz of Polyvore, you must, there is some seriously good mood and inspiration boards on there!)

I came across these two inspiration boards for an industrial, neutral work space. I love the simple black, white and a pop of timber in this collection.

It's not that complicated

How to create a Coastal feel in your home

Want your home to have a beachy vibe? Read on...

When I think of a coastal home, I am drawn to crisp whites, texture, timber, natural fibres, woven rugs, rattan, beach combing finds and lots of layers! Today I am going to be sharing with you some simple ideas on how to make your home feel coastal and homely. For me, my home is a touch of coastal, glam and natural. I love the feel of white and timber, paired with garden and beach combing finds. For me, a clutter free home with a simple colour palette makes me feel relaxed and I like being able to add certain coastal elements for a beachy feel.

Here are some ways you can achieve a coastal feel in your home,

Whitewash timber
Do you have an old piece of timber furniture or timber in your home that needs updating? Why not try a light whitewash paint effect. It is a cheap and easy way to update without having to buy new! I have achieved the whitewash effect on two side tables, you can see tutorials here and here.

Easy Clay DIY Christmas Decorations or Gift Tags

Have you put your Christmas tree up yet?? I certainly have! I always look forward to the 1st of December, putting cheesy carols on and detangling rows of lights and baubles. This year was a little different however. I instead borrowed Hubby's drill and sat in the garage drilling holes through driftwood I had found and made my own Christmas tree. Then, to top it off, I made my own decorations. Yep this Christmas is all DIY! If you want to join in and make some DIY tree ornaments or perhaps even gift tags for those beautifully wrapped presents, then follow along. It is super easy and all you need is patience (the clay takes three days to dry!).
