Wanting to refresh your little ones bedroom?
Maybe you are wanting to make the change from nursery to bedroom?
Or simply looking for some cute and colourful homewares to add some interest and fun?
Did you see my watermelon and boho tribal themed bedroom styles I put together? Well today I thought I would show you some top bargain buys from Kmart - the perfect way to achieve a new style for a bedroom.
If you haven't hopped on the Kmart bandwagon, then you need to as there are some seriously good buys! I cannot walk past my local store without checking to see if new stock or items have arrived. It is fair to say I am a Kmart addict! Any Kmart addicts out there too?
Here are some of my tips to freshen a bedroom space and add some fun and interest:
|| Bedding||
Start with colourful and fun quilt cover and bedding and base the room around these colours. Either add some fun prints with the bedding, or a block colour or even something reversible so you can get two looks for the one bargain price! Add a few fun shaped cushion (like the cute fox one below for a boys bedroom!) to add a bit of interest and make it funner for a little one!
|| Colour ||
Keep it simple when decorating, using predominately the colours for the bedding and adding another colour for contrast if needed.
|| Think outside the box! ||
I chose some blue and white printed party bunting for the little boys bedroom below - it is found in the Kmart party aisle but who says it cannot be used in a bedroom?! Use your imagination and have fun when decorating!
Here are my top Kmart shopping picks
for a girls bedroom
I put this girls bedroom style together for $135, including a $39 rocking horse that is actually a toy and not only decor!
SHOP THE LOOK:
1. Lamp $20 || 2. Rocking Horse $39 || 3. Shadow Box $12
Here are my top Kmart shopping picks
for a boys bedroom
I put this boys bedroom style together for $71, Definitely decorating on a budget isn't it?!
SHOP THE LOOK:
1. Cushion $7 || 2. Stool $12 || 3. Storage Basket $10 || 4. Bedding $20 ||
Remember, you want the bedroom to be fun, a place they can play and make a mess, have quiet time and generally just enjoy! So don't overdo it with fancy cushions or expensive wall hangings or art. Keep it simple and make sure it is a safe place for little ones!

I love Kmart right now! I love how they're really giving their competitors a run for their money with decent products. The Kmart run is very dangerous now as I usually come out with items I wasn't planning to get. Kinda reminds me of going to Ikea ... so they've tapped into that psychology of a shopper. Providing well priced products that a consumer connects with as needing, even though they had no idea they were going to get it in the first place.
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't have said it better! I connect with everything and walkout with a basket load everytime. I have seen some hints of the new Kmart summer range on Instagram and it looks better and bigger than before. Some fab bright summer colours and I already know I am going to have to fight the urge to fill my trolley! Thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteKmart is fabulous at the moment for homewares ... starting to rival IKEA in my books ;) My 10yo daughter would love that bedspread for her room, will need to go check it out.
ReplyDeleteKmart has really upped the decorating options haven't they! These rooms would both be so adorable. I like to think outside the square a little when thinking on how to create my kids bedroom spaces.
ReplyDeleteOh wow I had not even considered KMART for bedrooms. I am heading there, like NOW. Thanks for the tips xx
ReplyDeleteOh so affordable and fun! So glad to inspire you! x
DeleteOh god I am obsessed with Kmart and not just for her bedroom, the entire house lol. Her bedroom has the rocking horse, the hexagon shadow box + the teepee, a couple of cushions, the bunny night light and the follow your dreams print.
ReplyDeleteOh cute Toni - I don't have kids, so my house is full of Kmart homewares and bargain buys! So reasonable and if you don't like it in twelve months time, it\s no biggie as it didn't cost a fortune! :):)
DeleteI love your fab finds Ashlea. Kmart have seriously upped their game!
ReplyDeleteHow freaking awesome is KMART these days. It's like full of new surprises every time I go in there. Love your picks hun and I have a few of those pieces ;) xx
ReplyDeleteI would love to style my kids bedrooms for them, but it's so hard at the moment, because they are so small. Maybe one day when they have more space, we can look at decorating a bit more.
ReplyDeleteYup, loving Kmart's homewares right along with you :-) . I particularly like that boy's bedroom. When mine were little, Mr 21 had a "zoo animals" themed bedroom in bright primary colours; and Miss 18 had a "fairy room" in shades of pale mint and pink (we transformed the former nursery, which was pale mint). I used to be so proud of them (the rooms, and the kids!)
ReplyDeleteVisiting today from #teamIBOT x
I have the same blue and white bunting in our toddler's room! A bargain and looks great!
ReplyDeleteLove it all. Kmart is so on fire at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI love the rocking horse! Unfortunately my children are too old for this now but when they were little I always wanted to get them one but never found one as cute or as cheap as this one!
ReplyDeleteK Mart is such excellent value and you've scooped the most fantastic finds. Never mind about the kids, there are some things I have my eye on for my room. That dog is the cutest! Thanks for linking up to the Ultimate Rabbit Hole!
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I are really loving Kmart - they are offering such good ideas at such good prices. Both my kids' rooms need to be made over. Mine are teens though and I haven't seen any really good ideas for teenagers. And I'd love to give my daggy bedroom a makeover - Mums always put themselves last.
ReplyDeleteThat watermelon and Aqua is divine...so fresh!
ReplyDeleteNice one. I love the trinket box and really I like all the suggestions for the boys room. I am kind of glad my closest Kmart is 15 minutes away at the moment.
