Feature Friday: My Beach Home

Meet Emma.
Wife, Mum to two adorable boys Kobi & Finn, theatre Nurse and fellow coastal interior lover!

I met Emma on Instagram (are you seeing a theme here?! It's the place to be to meet fellow interior and home enthusiasts!) where Emma shares snippets of her home and life with her family.

Emma calls the bayside of Brisbane home and today I am so thrilled to share Emma's coastal, eclectic and colourful home. If you have boys, then you will fall in love with Emma's styling and awesome bedroom interiors. Don't even get me started on the playroom...I want to hang out there!

Lets take a look shall we?

Emma, tell us a bit about yourself, as well as your home and loves!
I'm 33, work as a part time theatre Nurse, married for 10 years to my soul mate Brent, and have 2 boys - Kobi 7 years old and Finn 4 years old. We also have a 14 year old Jack Russell, Jack!

My home is two storey, in the bayside suburb of Cleveland, Brisbane.

When did you move into your home?
We built our home 7 and a half years ago.
I have been following your Instagram account and love seeing your home and gorgeous style. What do you love most about your home?
I love how my home has grown and gone through style cycles as much as I have! It reflects my style and personality. It is my own little safe haven and I love escaping there!

What does the word home mean to you?
Home to me means safe, free and loving.

Describe your style?
My style is an eclectic mix. I love the beach and coastlines so I have a lot of decor to reflect that. I also love monochrome with dashes of colour. I love styling kids areas so the boys rooms and toy room are full of quirky and fun items.

Your inspiration for your home?
Lots of inspiration from so many gorgeous homes and kids decor accounts on Instagram and my love of magazines - Home Beautiful, Real Living, House and Garden, Homes Plus. Yes, I'm a magazine addict!!

Favourite room in your home?
My favourite room in my house is my son Finn's room. It is just so fun in there! I love changing things around and playing with his collection of toys! Kids spaces are so much fun to create.

Biggest indulgence?
My biggest indulgence is my monthly magazine habit
Note - I had to ask where Emma keeps all her magazine. I too have a magazine addiction and am running out of room to store them! Emma said she has them in a basket under her coffee table and also stores them stacked with a belt wrapped around them. Love it!

What do friends say when they visit your home?
My friends love the styling, and calm, very relaxed atmosphere.

Favourite places to shop for home decor and furniture?
My favourite places to shop are, The Beach Furniture, Village Store, Biku Furniture, Alfresco Emporium, Freedom, Earthborn and lots of kids online shops, but Leo and Bella is my go to shop for kids decor.

Emma said she loves styling kids interiors and you can see her passion and love for it shining through here.

I love the black and white theme and the splashes of colour and fun.

So inspiring isn't it?

What do you think of the kids playroom? Looks like fun doesn't it?!

it's all a bit wow!
I am sure you are besotted with Emma's home and style like me!
One of my favourite elements is Emma's braveness in hanging things on the wall. It has taken me a long time to be confident in my decision to hang things on the wall - I was one of those people with blank walls for a very long time. I really admire that Emma has so much art, texture and fun hanging on her walls. You are really see how effective it is hanging objects in clusters cant you?
Did you see the clusters of hats, anchors, crosses, tennis racquets?
 So effective and eye catching!

Emma like me shares a love of anchors, did you spot them?

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF EMMA'S HOME?
IN LOVE WITH HER RELAXED BEACHY STYLE?

  3. OH Ashlea, I love Em's home. Great to see it here on your blog, She is certainly inspirational and has a natural talent at knowing where to put the shelving & hooks up in her home, and then styling it magically in her funky way. Love it all! I wonder what she will do next? :)
