Oh Babies! My Baby Shower

On Sunday we celebrated the soon to be arrival of our twin boys with my baby shower - read about how we revealed their gender, if you missed that post!

I wanted a simple 'do, one that wouldn't be too much fuss. I was concious when setting the date to ensure I wasn't 'too pregnant'. I wanted to be able to still move around with ease, not have kankles and enjoy myself. I was also concious, that carrying twins, being 28 weeks pregnant that I am equivalent to the size and weight of carrying a singleton baby at 34 weeks. So the date was perfect, I was able to still get around with ease and the day was a perfect with blue skies, not a hint of rain as forecast. It was terribly hot though!

I held a high tea at Teavine House, its one of my favourite spots. It's only 10 minutes drive from my home at Tallebudgera Valley and is a darling property, a white Queenslander sits proudly at the end of the drive and green lush lawns and gardens surround it. I had booked the garden pavillion for the celebration, so we had our own little place to relax and enjoy away from the main restaurant.

A few games were played, laughs were had and I just soaked up all the love and kindness of the amazing ladies who joined me for the afternoons celebrations. I didn't even get a photo of the lovely food and high tea (sorry, I was too busy scoffing the scones, yum!).

It was perfect. I went home and opening all the cards and gifts alongside Nathan I had a little tear. I was just so overhwhelmed by all the love and generosity of those who came. I felt so lucky in that moment, that these amazing people are in my life and soon to be boys lives too. So thank you x

I made little thank you favours for all the lovely ladies who joined me - I loved the touch of the crochet doiley and wooden peg.

I made my own flower crown and also put together all of the flowers for the table and gift table. All sorts of bright blooms, in odd recycled glasses, with a touch of twine wrapped around the jar. So easy and it looked lovely!

So now it's time for some serious nesting, sorting and setting up of the nursery. I have piles of clean linen and clothes to group and pack away. I can't wait until it's all done! Its starting to feel very real now (especially as I type this and get major kicks in the ribs, thanks boys!).

Happy Hump Day xx

  1. Oh you look absolutely gorgeous, as does the venue! I love your flower crown and can't believe that it won't be too long before your boys make their grand entrance into the world! I love that almost all the guests are wearing blue. It must be a sign!
