Feature Friday: My Design Crush on The Design Villa

So I have a Design Crush.

Her name is Louise Roche and she is a product stylist and photographer, qualified interior designer, and creative director from Brisbane. Her business  is The Design Villa.

I love her laidback tropical style.

The way she pairs whites, greens and texture.
The rattan, sea shells and coastal finds.

This Feature Friday post is a little different therefore- today I am featuring the studio and works of The Design Villa and not a home. What's not to love about this tropical feel though?

I know you are going to want to read on for a peek!

Feature Friday: A Leafy Green Inner city Melbourne Apartment

I came across this Inner city Carlton apartment in Melbourne and was immediately drawn to it. I have never lived in an apartment before, but often think of apartment living as compact and functional. This apartment has changed my view however, the owners have created an inner city home that is a cherished sanctuary and a place to recharge the batteries.
It's inviting, welcoming and oh so homely. Let's take a peek shall we?!

Feature Friday: The Glass Pole House on The Great Ocean Road

Have you ever been lucky enough to drive The Great Ocean road along Victoria's beautiful coastline? I have and one thing that sticks out in my mind is this unusal home, perched 40 meters above Fairhaven Beach. I remember yelling out from the passenger seat 'Did you see that?! What was that!'It is a truly spectacular sight! It was built by an architect in the 1970's and has recently been renovated to a modern masterpeice.

I love showing you inside amazing homes as part of the Feature Friday home tour. So come and step inside this one bedroom, one bathroom luxury beach house that boasts views from Airey's Inlet to Lorne.

Feature Friday: A Coastal Nest

When I came across this home in Adore Magazine, I knew I had to share it with you all as part of Feature Friday. It looks like a home that you would want to wander the rooms, admiring the detail and choice of the decor. You would know that even though it looks like a home that is 'just thrown together with unique things', it is a home that is precise, well thought and everything is positioned in a certain place for a reason! I love the interesting wall hangings, the pendants and of course - the white, timber and green. My favourite combination!

Feature Friday: Sun bleached in the heart of Byron Bay

Byron Bay is my home town, I was one of the last babies born in the Byron hospital before the maternity ward was closed. Being a long term local it is fascinating to see the changes and shifts in Byron Bay over time. Now, Byron Bay is uber trendy, the place to be seen, holiday and wine & dine. I must admit, when I am on holidays nothing ever matches up to the food and restaurants in Byron Bay (sorry!). It truly is a special place! If I was to holiday in Byron, I would love to stay at the Atlantic Byron Bay, right in the heart of town. I remember seeing the cottages being renovated with fascination, Hubby even replaced the roof on it and I remember dropping him lunch one day at work - just so I could sneak a peek of the reno! I have always been a home stalker I think!!

I thought as its Feature Friday, why not step inside this Caribbean coastal estate and be woo'ed by its tropical gardens and amazing interior.
Please, join me for a home tour...

Feature Friday: A rustic beach cottage

Have you discovered the new Homes Plus magazine yet? It is only new and a subscription to it is on the top of my Christmas wishlist this year! The magazine features 'real homes' and products as well as some great DIY projects. What I love about it is that the magazine makes styling your home affordable - there is some great budget ideas that wont break the bank.

I came across this coastal home in this months Christmas issue and just had to share it with you for Feature Friday. It looks like such a relaxed space and I loved the coastal Christmas feel they have created with the blue wrapping paper and simple Christmas tree. You can read more on the home here.

Feature Friday: A Timber Home at Lorne

Last week for Feature Friday I brought you an amazing renovated beach house on Victoria's Great Ocean Road coastline. Curious to see the design and style of homes along this stretch of coast I was trawling through real estate and came across this home. I loved its unique timber design, its easterly aspect that takes in a spectacular sweep of sea, sky and surf coastline. I loved that nothing comes between you and the view with this home.

The home is a three bedroom, two bathroom and was designed by an architect to enjoy the ocean views. The full height windows, brick feature walls, stone fireplace and reclaimed timber is what drew me in. This shot of the living area is my favourite...

Feature Friday: A beach house at Angelsea on The Great Ocean Road

This home is my dream home.

The moment I saw this home, I fell in love with it. From the natural light, to the colour palette, the ocean views and the orchard in the garden, this home is simply stunning!

Today I am beyond excited to be featuring this home as today's Feature Friday post. I shared a snippet with you last week on Facebook and the response was great - you all wanted to see more! So today I am doing just that. Here is some background and the story behind this beautiful beach house that sits at Angelsea at the beginning of The Great Ocean Road on Victoria's stunning coastline...

Feature Friday - Michael and Carlene's Block Apartment

As the final weeks of The Block draw to an end, I thought it was fitting to do a Feature Friday post on a Block apartment. The apartments are now complete and on the market, with the auction taking place on the 11th of October.

My favourite Block couple this season has been Michael and Carlene. Perhaps I am biased as they are Gold Coast locals (living only in the next suburb from me!), but I truly think they are the most lovely couple on the Block. They have a lovable nature, are so witty and real and I can't get enough of Carlene's laugh!! It's hilarious!

In the last few weeks they have been on a winning streak. The judges deemed their kitchen, laundry, entrance and living and dining area the best on show this season. Here is a peek inside their finished apartment.

Feature Friday: Step inside Shelley Craft's home!

I love peeking inside peoples homes! One home I have always been interested in seeing is The Block host Shelley Craft. A little while ago I had heard that she and her husband had purchased in Byron Bay and were renovating and I was curious. Then, all of a sudden I hear that the newly renovated high-priced property is for sale. All of a sudden I run to the computer, punch her name into google and voil'a, I am transported into Shelley Craft's home. I was so curious to see her style after being a part of hit tv show The Block and most likely herself getting the renovation bug! This home is so me and my style. I feel in love, I mean who wouldn't want to sit on the verandah and enjoy the view towards the most easterly point of Australia and that famous lighthouse?

So here it is, come and step inside the home and tell me what you think!
It's a luxury five-bedroom, three level house, with an asking price in excess of $1.5 million, is set on a massive landscaped block of land in the posh pocket of Ewingsdale.
It took Shelley and her husband Christian Sergiacomi, a former cameraman on The Block, four years to renovate.

Feature Friday - Nina Proudman's Offspring Apartment

I am having Offspring withdrawals. I even woke the other night to be singing the theme song...Oh why, oh why, oh why wont you sing, bring your hips to me....If you are laughing right now, I would understand. I mean its only a tv show right? Right! Except that its hard not to connect with Nina, she is gorgeous, her wardrobe is stunning, she is incredibly awkward and all you want is for her to happy after the death of Patrick.

So to help me with my withdrawals I jumped on Pinterest and typed in the name 'Nina Proudman'. Now I have serious wardrobe envy! Her staple wardrobe items seems to be denim, scarfs and boots and I love it.

Adding Some Curb Appeal to My Home - Feature Friday

Nearly two years ago when we were house hunting for our first home I disregarded our house. I sat out the front of the house in the car and turned my nose up. I was struggling to see it's potential and visualise how we could transform it. Basically I didn't want to buy our house as it didn't have any curb appeal. It was bland, brick and boring. Now, we have major curb appeal and its a BIG improvement (it took a lot of work and lots of weekends though!)!!

Today I am showing you some of my home renovation as part of my Feature Friday post. The front of our home and transforming it has been a big project that we have tackled in several smaller steps. You may have already seen that we have installed new windows and doors to our home, painted the brick exterior, built a new front deck and done some serious landscaping. but you haven't seen how it has all come together so far. In between these projects we painted the front garage doors and did a feature wall at the front in stacker stone. It really transformed the house and modernised it.

Here are the photos that tell the story of how we added some serious curb appeal...

Feature Friday - a beautiful country setting!

I posted earlier in the week that I had a special property to share with you for Feature Friday. It has had me excited all week, I can't wait to hear what you think, I would love you to leave me a comment below!

When I stumbled on this home on Realestate.com it had an appeal, oozed character and I fell in love with it's rustic charm. You could imagine sitting in the sun, taking in the views, children playing on the lawn, garden parties or family BBQ's at this home. There is something about its extensive use of timber features, timber battens on the exposed walkways, the barn doors and the neutral colours used in this home. It makes you feel relaxed and at home. I wouldn't mind residing here that's for sure...
